Passports should be collected while they are boarding the plane and give it to the police when they land...

If you arrive at an Irish Airport, Sea Port or Land border and wish to enter the State you need a Passport and depending on what country you are from a Visa also. You will be refused entry if you don’t have them . IF HOWEVER YOU SAY THE MAGIC WORDS ‘ I WANT ASYLUM’ YOU WILL BE ALLOWED ENTER THE STATE FOR YOUR CLAIM TO BE PROCESSED. IF A GARDA OR IMMIGRATION OFFICER WAS FOOLISH ENOUGH TO IGNORE THE CLAIM AND THEY WERE CAUGHT DOING SO ITS BYE BYE TO THEIR JOB. The Government has to make the applying for asylum unattractive or withdraw from the Human Rights convention .

The Irish government walked into this. The open border with the UK was an obvious issue after brexit. Yet O'Gorman sent out his welcoming asylum tweets in various languages in 2021. The UK govt introduced electronic travel scheme for Jordan in February, and now the top country for asylum seekers in Ireland is.... Jordan! This was not hard to predict (unless you're insulated in a cosy little bubble like Pat Kenny and the other Newstalk tools)

But surely Ireland needs more immigration? It is signing up to the EU’s Asylum and Migration Pact, which will guarantee approximately 50,000 migrants per year. Ireland is a rich country which can afford hotels for asylum seekers. Ireland has exported its people for generations but now Ireland wants more people. Some may claim this isn’t true. But Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael, Sinn Fein, Labour and the Greens all agree with this increase in immigration…..and these Parties are very popular with the voters.

If anyone enters the country without a passport or documentation then they have already committed a crime and therefore should be deported immediately , it's not rocket science 🇮🇪

Its simple really. Make them get a visa if they are not from EU. No Visa no flight. Take passports before the flight in case it blocks toilet. Anyone messing about gets deported. Thats the way it was going to the US in the 80s when we went there. If you were arrested in the states with no visa you were sent home. Your bank account was frozen and your social security card confiscated. You couldnt go back for at least 10 years if ever. You cant expect the airlines to impliment immigration control thats someone else job.

Love the man but The giant roundabout at the Swords road is a serious pinchpoint depending on the time of day. The traffic flow at T1 departures is also a nonsense but DAA should fix that.

Michael O'Leiry is undervalued in Ireland; the Government should listen to him. he has sound common sence and tells it in a clear way that anybody can understand, Perhaps he might consent to a couple of hours a month as advisor to our govmt he could not be a politician it would drive him crazy, He is a man of action, a man of his word and a man of the people. I do admire what he is and what he has done for tourism in our country.

That's a very inefficient way of doing it. Scan the person's passport and photo of them at the boarding gate. Encrypt the data and delete it after 48 hours. If someone turns up without a passport, take their picture and the biometrics can be compared to the data stored. There will be a match and hey presto, you know who they are, etc. Nobody can board a plane to Ireland without a passport and visa. These people are spoofers. The solution is easy.

One of the best comments I have heard Michael O’Leary give was in response to an invitation to the President’s house in the park for a 2 day conference on job creation at the time of the financial crisis.
